Originally inspired in the early Nineties by the plight of Brian Keenan and John McCarthy, taken hostage in Beirut, it has taken on a tragic, albeit coincidental, sense of contemporary relevance, with the recent abduction of the BBC journalist Alan Johnston and the capture, and subsequent execution of, Ken Bigley, a 62 year old British engineer. "Three men - three nationalities - a single cell": It's probably been something everyone has afforded a fleeting thought to: "what would I do, how would I behave, would I retain any sanity if I was stripped of my liberty to walk free?" For most of us it remains an academic pursuit into the realms of grim fantasy, but for three men, Adam, Edward and Michael, it's real. As well as being an intense theatrical experience, Someone Who'll Watch Over Me is thought-provoking, moving and sharply funny.
